I've had my GT2544 about 10 hours... love it, but reverse is a dog. Doesn't get anywhere close to the advertised 3.5mph. Seems to be more like .5mph. Any ideas? Haven't looked yet to see what can be adjusted...

I havent touched mine, but you will see an adjustment slot in the main pedal linkage with two hold-down bolts. That will allow you to change the range of motion on the F or R pedal. Keep in mind that what ever you gain in R, will take away from F, and the other way around. Mine's not real fast in reverse either, but I've never seen a non-commercial mower that was.
G/luck!

My 3235 is much slower in forward than my 1450 was. I tried adjusting the pedal travel but then it wouldn't hardly move in reverse so I put it back where it was.

My 2180 is a dog in reverse. It can't get out of its own way. That's ok though, I figure, I'm only backing up short distances and we've got kids all over this place.

I wouldnt give up on that, my 3204 reaches the 8 MPH forward and the desire reverse speed (after the PTO reverse was disabled)...yours should do the same

I too just bought (6-21-2005) a CC GT 2544 Tractor, and just like you stated its slowwwwwwww in reverse. I have just 2.2 hours on mine, so I haven't tried to do anything or adjust linkage. But if you found that there is/was a problem, can you post it.

I haven't tried to fool with it yet, but more of an issue is that I've run into a couple if instances where reverse doesn't work at all. Almost like the clutch doesn't fully engage (which might explain the speed issue as well??) Only has happened on an incline, and if I turn the wheels a bit, or move forward a bit, I can get it to work...

I did notice that when I cut the grass last Friday evening, that when I was cutting in ditch in front of my house, that I had to bump up the throttle at almost full speed. I was trying to take it easy during break in period. I know that it operates best when ran at full throttle. Still just 2.3 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not only does it operate best at full throttle, but babying equipment like that can lead to breakdowns in the future.

I think there is a dampener for the control shaft to the hydro that 'eases' in the go and no-go motion. You notice it if you pop your foot off the go pedal or change direction. The pedal(s) eases themselves back to the stop position instead of slamming back. It almost feels like that's what causes the slowness to pick up speed in R. I really notice it when I back-up a hill while mowing. It takes a few seconds to p/up speed.
G/luck
