CCM Hydraulic Top Link Cylinder Leaking

I purchased a CCM Hydraulic Top Link for my tractor less than 6 months ago. Just looking at it the other day I noticed hydraulic fluid leaking where the rod enters the barrel (around the wipers). Is this normal or it there something wrong with the cylinder?

No, cyl are not supposed to leak. It is just a matter of tolerance as how much it leaks.

Drops per minute varies with different hyd products, and manufactures will allow so many drops per minute. A few drops in the dirt won't matter much, but a few drops on your tiled garage floor might be serious to some people.

I didn't think it should leak at all either. I do keep it in my garage so don't like oil spots on the floor. I will contact CCM at the beginning of the week to see what they can do. Thanks.

I also purchased a CCM 18-26 top link with check valve and 36" hose kit a few weeks ago and no leaks anywhere. So far so good, but next to nothing time on it.

Same here -- just installed mine a few days ago and no leaks that I've noticed. No complaints other than CCM charged me 5 bucks more on shipping than they quoted and never replied to the email I sent asking why.

When I first installed mine (I have a CCM unit also), it had a very small leak around the banjo fittings. I simply snugged up the banjo fitting bolt and the leak went away. This is the area you are describing.

If anyone thinks they have improper or leaking fittings CCM provided just call us and we will replace them. We have thousands of hydraulic toplinks working properly in the USA. It is possible an improper BSPP to NPT could have been sent with your toplink. This is not a safety issue because the double piloted check valve locks the toplink in place.

We are not saying there is a problem but we want our customers to check the product they purchased from us. Customer satisfaction is what we strive for in all our products. Thank you for your business.

I have a 7040 Kubota. I am thinking of a hyd toplink to be able to lift my mower higher. My factory TL is Cat 1 at the tractor end and Cat2 at the implement end. Do you offer one with this set up? I need to measure my pin hole centers when extended and retracted. Thanks, Matt

Matt, probably get a cat 2 and use a bushing so as to fit the tractor properly.

The Cat2 end is a little too big for the bracket at the rear of my tractor. I do have the bushings for the pin. I have 3 mounting holes on the tractor, the Cat2 end will only fit the middle one. The cast part that the ball is mounted in is too big. I have seen Hyd TLs that have a Cat2 base end & a Cat1 rod end. I need it vise versa. I have not gotten around to searching for one yet. I just noticed the reply from CCI and thought I would see what they offered.
