Harbor frieght has these on sale for $89. What does ever one think about them, Junk or OK for the money? MY local lowes is having a one day sale and they have a senco clipped head nailer on sale for$209. and on another day they have a Dewalt for $199. I know the senco and the dewalt would be a better. but would the harbor frieght one be worth risking to save some $

Most if not all my air nailers are from harbor freight. The only drawback I have is there shipping dept. They dont hire the best/brightest bunch (trust me on that). When I bought mine its the nails that are important, you think your going to Lowes/Home depot for more nails you got another thing coming, which is why I had to order nails (none in store) and it took 3 months and they sent the wrong thing. So a simple call to their 1-800-I-dont-care number I finally got the right nails (another 2 months). As far as quality goes mine have performed very well, no jams/hang-ups of any kind. Just remember to oil the tools BEFORE each use.

I dont think i would like waiting on nails. I would buy one if i could get the nails when i need them. I am not real good at planing i would be in the middle of a project and run out of nails /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. i was going to drive 150 miles one way to pick one up. but i dont know now, saving a 100 dollars might not be worth the aggravation over the nails. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you going that way there's no harm in just stopping in and checking if they have the nails for it. When I went there they didnt. Thats why I had to order them. If your going there just for that I would call them first. They're pretty good for the money for the average homeowner, just not in the construction/extremely heavy use area.

I looked at them for about 2 minutes and then decided to walk away. The nail thing concerned me, especially if you pay to ship 20 lbs. of nails and also availability. I wasn't too crazy about quality. I settled on a Bostitch from ebay. There are several offers out there. I got a factory refurbished unit with 1 yr. warranty. Opted for the buy it now for $149. There are several offers on ebay for the refirb. units. Look for the best deal. Mine came in 10 days and looks brand new. Used it to build a storage shed. Nailed 2 X 6 pressure treated without a problem. Also used it to nail Hardi-plank siding using 2" ring shank nails and no problems. It even went thru the 3/4" Hardi-trim. Also, a wide selection of nails are available at big box stores.

Good luck.

If you do buy one, I'd check to see if the nail style, round head or clipped head, matches the angle of locally available nails.

went to lowes this evening for thier big sale /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif, they didnt have the nail gun that was on sale , said they never had it . I asked why they advertised it , they didnt have a good ans. but they sold me a porter cable framing nailer for $199. i was satisfied. it was reg. $229. i didnt ask them to do it my sis went with me to get a few things and she complained about them not having anything they said they would for thier contractor appreciation sale so. she said i think you should sale us another one for that price or cheaper /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. i guess its good to have a sister who likes to complain.

It's difficult to know what makes one air nailer better then another when you have no reference. I have found a magazine that comes to me "Tools of the Trade to do wonderful job with reviews on many different tools. As one who has had many different nailers, I have come to appreciate the many things that differentite a great nailer from a good one. Often the best finish nailer is made by a manufactuer that is different from the best coil roofing nailer to the best stick full size frame nailer. I have been given tools from folks who purchased various air tools from places like Harbor Freight and lets just say the gesture was appreciated, but quite frankly, the quality was not. If your a very occasional use of tools, most of the tools will work for your project. For day in and day out, it becomes apparent quickly why a "Max" full size stick nailer will cost three times as much as a Central Pnuematic, its ten times better. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
