Chain Hooks on FEL?

Hello, all:

I often have to move heavy, awkward objects from point A to point B (e.g. generators, engines, the occasional doghouse, etc.).

The front end loader usually works great for this, but I always have to jerry-rig a chain around the FEL bucket.

Dealers like Carver say they can weld chain hooks to the bucket that should make this a cinch. My question is, where would we put the chain hooks so they don't interfere with the normal operation of the FEL, especially if it's a 4-n-1 bucket?

We've installed several of these for our customers and the most common location is in the middle. We first weld the hook to a piece of angle iron and then drill holes and bolt the angle iron to the bucket. This makes the hook removable in case it gets in the way in the future.

Sounds like a good idea.
What size angle iron do you use? When attaching the angle iron to the bucket,do you use heavier washers or piece of steel for the backing inside of the bucket?
For a sub compact tractor FEL.

There are many post about this subject w/lot of good in put,take little time glance thru them.
Would you be considering grab or slip hooks,also I seen a couple of buckets that had big ring attach for strap use. Hook or hooks on a bucket sure do come in handy. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have a BX2200 with FEL and I welded a chain hook in the middle of the bucket where the cylinder bracket is located. I welded the chain hook to a piece of flat iron, then welded the flat iron to the bucket across the braced area and touched up the paint with Kubota Orange.

You wouldn't have the ability to post a pic on that would you? I have a BX2200 and am going to be needing one of them hooks...maybe 2, but I'd sure like to see how you did it. Like it, or would you make any changes?

I had posted a picture of a heavy duty bucket on on LA681 FEL over in the photos section. My only comment would be to mount the hooks farther back on the bucket. My dealer had mounted them right on the top lip (I guess I should have been more specific) which imposes some limitiations on using the bucket cylinders vs. the lift cylinders - there is more power in the former. Most of my lifting will be framing timbers and rocks (our best crop 'round here).

Sorry, I don't have that capability at this time. Will have to invest in a Digital camera next. The hook works well. The front of the hook is about even with the edge of the bucket and I've lifted a box blade and other items with no problems. I believe it is strong enough to handle anything the BX has the ability to lift.
