I bought a EoloMatic PTO air compressor on e-Bay. Got a manual from the manufacturer. It shows 2 chains associated with torque restraint during operation. I know this same type of restraint is used with water and hydraulic pumps, but how exactly does one hook up these chains. Seems like its for rotational as well as axial shaft restraint. I wrapped them around the drawbar to lock it but there is too much vertical play in it so it raps the unit. Do these go around a top or side links or is there another missing element in this hookup ? Let me first say that while I have looked at those compressor before I have never used one. But I do know how many people use the pto water pumps for sprayers.
What you will probably want is one of these:
PTO Drawbar Category 3, 38in. Length | 3-Point Hitch Accessories | Northern Tool + Equipment This one is cat 3 and you probably need a cat1, but it looks just the same but smaller.
Put the bar through the two lower 3-point links points and pin them like you would any implement.
You can then hook the chains to the holes in the bar, or use some bolts through the chain and the bar. By moving the bolt to different holes in the links of the chain you can adjust the tension.
In the attached PDF you can see how someone strapped it to the draw bar. On big tractors this would work well since they tend to have a massive drawbar support, but on a small tractor the drawbar link above may be a better approach.
