Chain Saw Chopper

Ideas OK as long as you keep your hands clear.

A modern version of a buzz saw. I like the throttle linkage. I think that took a bit of thinking to do, you need to locate and secure the saw, and the idea of hanging it on the cart edge, is very good.

Great way to take care of a lot of limbs. Like has been said - watch out for your hands. After use for a while, I can see a potential problem of the rhythm of cutting the limbs and your hands becoming involved with the blade.

The saw jig looks like a quick way to sever limbs - be they of the wood or flesh variety.
Ingenious mechanism, but anything that separates the operator from direct control of the saw, as this does, makes me a little anxious.
Same reaction I have to all the recent investment in "driverless cars" by big companies with more money than sense.
That Mottimaster, on the other hand, looks very cool.

I like the idea, but can't see it any good for big wood. The mottimaster is amazing! I want one...

when you push it hard in heavy oak, a ground drive PTO (to reverse it through the tractor transmission) is a MUST !!
And despite shearbolts i've ripped PTO tubes open over the full length, powering it. Its human nature to push the machine to its dimensional limits (poking whole trees in the hole so the tree has nowhere to split and the axe jams stuck in the tree) because its so much faster than sawing and splitting...

This is an older model of the original manufacturer (Mottimaster is a licensee)

If you pull it to 1800rpm and put 8 inch tree in it at every time the hole is open, you're dead within minutes... But if you could physically keep it up, you get 3 cords an hour, cut and split... We operate it with 2 people, one limb after the other so you can take a breath before the next limb..

There was a post here a while back that had a few machines that cut short lengths like this and were self feeding. Used blades that counter rotated from one another and both sets met edge to edge that severed the wood into sections. As soon as you stuck the end in the machine you would go to pick up another while it chopped it into sections.

You mean this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzPZU1Q5-bY

The idea originates from central europe, mostly Poland and Czechia. We intend to build one next winter, use tractor final drive bull gears to drive the rotors, and put a drum sieve behind it to remove leafs and shreds from the firewood, so we can just push any limb into the machine, and separate the firewood from the trash with the trommel instead of by chainsaw and by hand. Then my mottimaster will be for sale, and someone with a stronger back than me, may feed it :)

This is a commercially available model from Czechia, its more like what i have in mind. (wood must be small enough to dry but when you make it smaller than needed, its going to cost you capacity and fuel. the energy must go in the stove, not into the tractor that drives the wood machine)
