Sounds like all you need is a hacksaw and elbow grease..............We cut real trees where I'm from.Like the op was told, I too use "used" engine, hydraulic, gear and even regular bar oil. I sawed professionally for years and only thing i found used oil not up to was falling large stressed, dying timber where the pitch would gum up the bar/chain faster than with bar oil. I had my chain oiler adjusted to run out of oil 'bout the same time the saw started running out of gas.
Chains would stretch the same with used oil and in COLD winter weather, used oil poured easier than the gorilla snot that regular bar oil would turn into. Winter grade of bar oil looks a lot like new engine oil or hydraulic oil...... Hmmmm
As far as polluting the environment with used oil, ever see the color of the water in the puddles of wal-mart, malls, grocery stores and gas stations or any parking lot? Just what makes that funky colored water...... Hmmmmm
Still gotta luv the earlier comment from someone else also "just learn how to file your saw".
I won second place in a logging competition................but I'll practice my filing and chain tightening technique:thumbsup:
