changed trans from 40A to 46C now goes backwards how do you correct that ?

Might not be as simple as twisting the belt. A better answer may follow. Some pics of what you have now and what you had with the 40A may help.
And how/why you made the change.

If forward pedal is now reverse and reverse pedal is forward might be able to modify control linkage.
