Changing a damaged hydraulic oil filter

My Kubota M6800 has two hydraulic filters side by side underneath. I noticed a leak and when I crawled underneath the tractor, found one filter bent. Guess it was damaged by a stick or stump from below. It seems to be leaking from the seal, so I assume the seal was distorted. My question is when I remove this filter, how much hydraulic fluid will I lose if I work fast? My capacity is 40 quarts. Will it pour out or trickle out? Before I replace this filter, just was curious as to what to expect. Am I going to get a facefull of fluid? Any tips?

Have you tried tightening it up a little more????

If tightening doesnt work, on some tanks you can put a plug in the filler without a vent. if no air can get into the tank not much oil should get out. Or a vacume may work.

Check yer hyd schematic in yer service manual.. see where the filters are in the plumbing.. that will let you know if oyu will see lots of tank pressure or not.

Do they lay on their side ?, you will probably get quite an amount. 2 qts or so. Not so much if they were upright.

Ether way, I'd get a catch pan and replace. And don't stick your face in the way when you unscrew them.
