Hey Guys,
Couldn't come up with any answers from a search so I thought I would ask.

I have a Chevy Silverado with 118k miles. I have been using Royal Purple oil since the very first oil change and doing a complete oil and filter change every 9k miles. Here lately the Royal Purple oil has been hard to find, and when I do find it, it is kind of pricey at a little over 8 dollars a quart.

I am considering switching to the Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 full syn. where I can find it all auto parts stores and most dept. stores and is just over 5 dollars a quart. Is there any downfall to switching oils with this many miles on an engine, and will I be able to get the same oil change intervals as the Royal Purple.

I'm not looking for an oil war, I just don't have any experience with the other two brands of syn. oils.

It will not hurt a thing. The most important thing is to do routine maintenance, which it sounds like you do. I run what ever major brand is on sale and have for the last 20 years. The main thing is to do as you do and use quality products, good filters, and keep on top of things and you will get many years of good service out of your machinery.

Nope, not a problem. Pick your prefered oil and change away. Just try to avoid using a different brand every oil change. Due to additive package differences always using a different oil can in rare cases cause problems.
