Changing drive shaft seal on RS1200 tiller pictorial

Here are some photos of replacing a leaking drive shaft seal on an RS1200 tiller, in case it can be of use to somebody.

After removing the 4 bolts around the input shaft, the whole assembly pulls straight out (there's some suction resistance due to the o-ring seal).

Job is pretty straightforward with basic tools, unless you need to change the bearings as well (in which case you'll need a puller).

Thank you! That doesn't look as complex as I had feared.

My RS1400 sweats there. I wouldn't quite say it leaks because it makes a stain but it doesn't seem to need topping up. I should replace that seal.

Has anyone replaced the off-side bearing down on the main tine shaft? A dealer here once posted that this should be done *before* it fails and destroys the tine shaft. And he recommended a prelubricated, fully sealed bearing because there is no way to oil it in service.

Nice job, I've an rs1300 but so far no leaks or looseness.
