can you turn a wrench? if so you can turn a couple nuts off studs, or bolts out.
4000 4 cyl will be easiest... no surprises.
4000 3 cyl will have 1 surprise... at least I know the 3000/2000 did. one of the studs that holds the seat on is also a locating pin for the draft hyds inthe 3pt lift... don't freak out if it comes out instead of the nut unscrewing.... just put it back in..
tsc sells a nice blue chair with arm rests and neck support.. has black trim.. looks like it goes perfect for ford and NH tractors. I have um.. 2 or 3 tractors with them... they fit with -0- modifications... the holes inthe bottom mount plate line up perfectly..
As Soundguy mentioned, very easy to get on and off. The locating pin did come out on me, and it WAS a surprise. No big deal though.
I tried one of the TSC seats last year on my 3000, and it bolted right on. However, it just didn't work for me. It sits so high my feet didn't touch the floor boards. I tried to get used to it, but it just wasn't safe for me. All of the aftermarket ones I've looked at appear to sit higher than the factory seat, but not all give dimensions so I may be wrong about that. You can still get the original style seat, though they're about twice the price of the others, around $225 if I recall. Haven't pulled that trigger just yet, but my back keeps reminding me.
