Mahindra 2615
Hi everybody I have a mahindra 2615 I just changed the front diff. oil today. The owners manual on one page, to use hydraulic transmission fluid and on another page it says to use sae 85w-140 gear oil. So I put in the 85-140 gear oil. I drained the oil from the three drain plugs 2 are on each front hub and the third is on the middle of the front diff. I removed the oil level plugs on both front hubs and fill the diff.axle at the fill hole witch is on the top of the diff axle. I put in 4 quarts and oil did not come out of the oil level holes. So I took the tractor for a 15min ride and used the 4wd came back to the garage and checked the level and still no oil came out of the oil level holes. So I added about a 1/2 quart and still no oil comes out of the oil level holes. The manual says it takes 4.2 quarts. Does anybody have any advice on what to do and what oil to use thanks paul

thank you for the information I just dont want to over fill the front diff and blow out the seals. The manual says 4.2 quarts and I put in a little more than that and it still is not coming out of the oil level holes thanks again paul

I should have added that when I changed transmission fluid it took more than the manual called for to reach the full dipstick mark. As you have already noticed the manual leaves something to be desired in that it calls for two different fluids in the front axle. If the writer(s) missed this what else was over looked? Maybe the correct amount of front axle oil?

You would think the owners manual would be correct but I guess it's not, what type of oil did you use for the transmission/hydraulics in your tractor and did you change it at 50 hours or did you just change the filter

I bought my tractor used with 220 hours. The previous owner said he did a full service at 200 hours. Just in case I changed all filters and fluids at 300 hours. I used Napa hydraulic/transmission fluid with the green lid. My tractor is a gear drive. If you have a hydro fluid may differ.
