I just came up with a very simple and clean way to change gear oil on Kubota RCK54-75B mower deck. I believe it would work on the other series also.

No need to remove deck.

1. Purchase Ziploc one gallon size freezer bags.
2. Lower deck on level ground.
3. Remove belt covers.
4. Open bag and lay flat on deck then roll the sealing edge up under the gearbox untill it touches the bottom of the gearbox drain hole.
5.Drain oil.
6. Carefully lift bag sealing edge up from under gearbox seal bag and dispose of properly.

I thought this would help making mower maintenance a little easier.

Nice clean idea, I can see where that will work for several things. By the way, what lube did you put back into the gear box? KennyV.

I replaced it with Amsoil Synthetic Gear Lube SAE 75W-90.

I had 1/2 quart left over from another oil change. I hope it is ok.

Thats a good idea. Thanks I'll do that to mine if I ever get enough mowing hours on the deck. At what hours did you change your deck gear oil.

I changed it at roughly 30 hours. The manual says it must be changed after first 50 hours then it should be done every 150 hours thereafter. I figured it is cheap insurance.
