I am considering changing my current hydraulic cylinder on a boom lift to a larger cylinder. My current cylinder is 2" in diameter and I may replace it with a larger cylinder. If my current 2" cylinder can lift 1000#, would a 3" cylinder lift 1500# (50% larger diameter results in 50% more lift)? I realize the greater stress on the lift and the cylinder would extend/lift more slowly. Pressure, hydraulic flow rate and cylinder stroke would stay the same.
