i am getting ready to change the fluid and the picture in the book shows a drain plug but i can not tell where it is. i think it is toward the rear because of the location of the back tire.

under the tractor right behind the oil pan is a drain plug and there is another back about under the pto.

do you drain both or just the back one?

The workmaster, 4 cyl 600 series Ford, has 4 sumps: Engine, tranny, hyd, and diff. You can get under the tractor and spot 1 large oil drain hole obviously under the engine and 3 smaller NPT plugs in the main casting as you work your way to the rear....diff is under the draw bar.

Non Engine full ports are 1/8" NPT pipe plugs on the curb side (right sitting in the seat) for the tranny and hyd. and about half way up the side of the casting. The diff is 1/2 NPT plug on the left side easily viewed from the rear of the tractor sitting a little lower. Full on all is running out the port.
Fill for the tranny is top of the tranny flat cover.
Fill for the hyd is under the seat on the left side about mid way.
Fill for the diff is on the right side behind the seat on top of the diff housing....the last 2 are a PIA to get to with the seat being in the way.
10w-30 works for the engine and GL1 mineral oil for the tranny and diff.....to protect brass bushings on some of the shafts Hyd gets plain, not premium hydraulic fluid.
