I would recomend against using "Fix-a-Flat". Most tire shops will not work on tires that have had it installed. It tends to weld the tires to the rims and is almost impossible to remove all of it once installed. It dries to a concrete hard substance on the rim and don't ever plan on getting a patch to stick to the rubber once its installed. Fix-a-Flat is good for one thing. You have a flat out on the road, fill your tire with the stuff and drive it far enough to get to a tire shop. Have them remove it as soon as possible before the stuff dries.
I would suggest using the gel type sealants like were mentioned elsewhere in this thread. They don't dry to a rock hard substance. Just be cautious with some of them. Some tend to sour over time and rust out the rims.
Here was a very good thread on tire sealants. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/100282-tire-slime.html?highlight=tire+sealant
