Charging warning light comes on and off and having periodic starting problem

There are no seat switches on the KIOTI Tractors, but there is the safety interlock on the clutch pedal. Depending on the serial number of the tractor, you would have either a "power on" or "power off" system. If it is the "power off" system, the shut-off solinoid is charged for 6 seconds after you turn the key to off to shut off the fuel flow. In the "power on" systems, the solenoid is pulled when the key is turned to the "glow" position. This is the newer style fuel system, that is easily identified by the "clap" of the fuel solenoid when the key is turned to glow.

Check the things the others have suggested and, the intermitant starting could be the key switch, the clutch safety switch, the fuel solenoid (in either type system), or a connection issue. The charge indicator would be a harness connection, key switch, alternator, or device connection. But when you overlap the 2 issues, you are left with the key switch, harness connections, or a device connection as your best places to start.

There are some wire harness connectors under the right floor/foot rest area. These have corroded on some guys and plagued them with electrical problems. Just another thought for these wonderful electrical problems which are sometimes a pita to find.

I am really thankful to every one for advise. I love the colloborative spirit on the net. Today, I blew some comressed air to clean any durt that may have lodged in the switch. I also checked the wiring harnesses and cnnections without pulling the ignition switch out. Started the tractor several times and it started right up. I am happy with the result but have no clue what was wrong with it.

The charging system light is still on. It is hard to tell if any wire is loose without getting behind the dash board. So I am still left with charging light issue.

It is possible that I have regulator going bad. On my model, it is built in with the alternator. Any suggestions on how to isolate the regulator alternater issue? the charging light issue has been gong on for quite some time. My tractor is 2007 and I assume out of warrenty. I want to diagnose the charging light issue per sure. Good news is that the battery charges and the tractor seem to start. So figueing out the dummy light issue is now acadamic challange

There is a good chance that your alternater has the voltage regulator built in . I think the easiest check is a voltage check at the alternater . you should read about 15 volts idling . should be just one wire coming from alternator . Check from that wire to ground .must use DC meter. be carefull !

My tractor has been stored indoors. No visible signs of corrosion. If switch is bad, would the engin crank? pardon my ignorance but is there something in the switch that allows it to crank but not start?

when I took mine in to get worked on it cranked and cranked, just barley got it started. I had all kind of lights on the panel on that shouldn't be on. When I got it to the dealer we never did get it started to get it off the trailer. When I went back to pick it up the dealer said it was a bad ignition switch.

Thanks. I will check the alternator and also get battery tested. For now, the starting problem is gone. may the two were unrelated or if they are then all arrows point o ignition switch or fuel solinoid.
