Side arguments aside;

Cylinders SOMETIMES do that if there is a side load on the rod.
Check for alignment and any forces that might be tending to BEND the rod.
Tight/stiff ball ends or pins could be one/some of these.

Back to side arguments; Symptoms sometimes reduce due to some form of compensating wear, or circulation of lube - neither of which can reasonably be considered "fixing itself".
I am aware of designs that compensate/adjust for wear, but in THIS context that is an irrelevant rat hole.

Thanks again for all the help.

In the process of elimination I lightly greased all of the pins to try and see if that might help and I also cycled repeatedly at different angles. I was able to alleviate some of the chatter some of the time. By just barely opening the valve and extending as slow as I possibly could, the cylinder would extend fully chatter free with the Box Blade. Other times it would start immediately, yet other times would start at approximately 50% extension. It is still more apparent with the heavier attachments, although can be quite noticeable with the LRake.

Would it be worth switching the hyd. lines to 1/4 inch? Or just deal with it. As it does not seem to be hurting anything.

Thanks again.

I'd be tempted to try a thin coating of oil on the hydraulic ram to see if that temporarily stopped the chatter. I'd also reverse the hydraulic connections at your quick connects or use a second remote if you have one. It is a very remote chance, but it might be interaction between your remote valve and the DPOCV. And when I say "remote chance" I mean don't hold your breath.;)

I believe you could achieve the same result as 1/4" hoses by installing inline 0.030" orifices if you can find them. Some tractor dealerships have them and some do not. They would be about $5 each and something you will like even if you decide to go to 1/4" hose. Some people even put an inline flow control needle valve so they can have the ultimate control for fine position adjustments.

My DPOCV's chatter when I'm extending VERY slowly (i.e. fine adjustments) AND the RPM's are low. I do have 3/8" lines too.

Other than that very specific scenario, I don't ever get chatter. I don't think this helps clear anything up, just sharing another viewpoint.

I think the radman has the answer. The weight of the implement is pulling/pushing fluid through the system faster the the check valve can handle.

I've had the same thing on my CCM toplink since new. If the implement's off the ground when I extend, I get a heckuva racket. Lower the implement to the ground and it extends silently. I've stopped worrying about it and just lower the implement when I hear the noise. I have the large hoses; maybe small hoses or a flow restrictor would help.

Haven't noticed any reduction of noise with age, but then I don't use the hyd. toplink that much. Usually the OEM toplink is on the tractor.

This seems fairly common, or at least I am not the only one that has the same issue.

I will try .030 orifices when I find them and will post up how it works out. They should not be hard to find around here.

Thanks again for all of the responses.
