Ask if the flail mower you want is a Seppi or a Maschio in the green Hayes paint
and if they cannot prove who built it or will not give you the answer WALK AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As they look like the chinese flail mowers that should not be on the market in
this flail mower owners opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see you own an Italian Mule for a beast of burden.
You want a flailmower with that kind of quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be able to find a quality flail mower in OZ.

Jeez I'd love to have the money to buy an Italian made Flail mower, but they start at about AUD$6000 and if you consider that the AUD$ and the US$ are almost on par that's a lot. The best and I mean the very best price I can get on a second hand Silvan is $2500.

So the comparison between the two I mentioned is $500 with just the name of the website (dissanddat.com.au) putting me off, anyhow they are both OK on paper with the Hayes unit being slightly more heavy duty. It has a 70HP gearbox and the other only 50HP. Both seems to have 6mm steel sides, the Hayes doesn't say bit it looks like 6mm, and the hitch on the Hayes looks better.

My Lamborghini has a Mitsubishi motor, a selling point for me as Mitsubishi is/was big in Oz so cheaper parts, but it has never hiccuped now the 4WD transfer case is a whole other story :(

Stephan,

I would much rather see you purchase the used Silvan for the piece of mind
as these things scare me and I am 33 year owner of flail mowers.

They are easy enough to repair or have repaired.

just remember the paint is nice and shiny and good at
covering poor engineering and design and material quality
and metal thickness.

if you own a micrometer that will tell you plenty.

The other issue is te lack fo steel in threar to prevent the
mower from twisting and racking.
