I am not going to put them in a FIELD;):D

We have been getting some nice pallets at work and since I now have a place to store the wood I am bringing more home.

The pallets usually measure 4-5' x 8-12' with some nice boards on them. The main runners are 3x3, 3x4, or 4x4 that are 8-12 foot long. Most of the wood is pine or oak with some being treated pine.

I have a stack of 12' untreated 4x4 pine stacked in the shop that I will used for work benches and work tables. The boards will be used for other projects.

I have some nice 4x4x10 treated with some wide thick boards I am loading tomorrow to take home. I just love the FREE wood.

Most I can tie down on the truck but one I had to take the trailer in for. It is 4+ foot wide and about 12 foot long all out of 2x6 material...with lots of nails:( so I plan to put it on blocks or scrap treated 6x6, put a roof over it and stack firewood on it. Occasionally we get this type of pallet with heavy material on it but most of the pallets are like the one leaning against he post.

The bottom pallet on the trailer is one big honking pallet, heavy!

Speaking of pallets, years back I bought a pile that housed 4 x 8 sheets of Luaan plywood. Luaan is very close to mahogany so some 20% were nice deep colored dense wood. Those went to making a nice built in work station. The 8ft side planks went to making the back yard fence.
When I sold that property it was the only one in the suburb that sported a 'mahogany' yard fence.
Guess I was 'eko friendly' even back in my early 20's, that or just plain cheap. LOL.

Even today pallets still provide a good source for nice hard wood stock for select projects.
While pallet wood is not exactly 'select' a decent portion is very usable with the rest being good dry fire wood.
It is all about ekofriendly or just plain cheap.
Just love re purposing whenever I can.
Another example is old bed springs. The sides are great 1 1/4" source for angle iron on the cheap. Probably have a dozen or stocked on hand as I speak.
