My father in law has one of them out in North Dakota. He pulls it with a big Case 4 wheel. He use to use it a lot draining slews into other slews until the DNR stopped the farmers from draining slews. It was a big deal in his area and all the farmers then posted their land. Figured out if no one could hunt the DNR might give in. My father in law's land is still posted but he does allow certain people to hunt on his land. Not by his doing, but hunters are paying big bucks to farmers to allow access. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif So now his rig sits in the back 40 collecting dust instead of money.

This is the last one. It's a nine yard capacity unit and works perfectly. I only mention that because it was built from scrap steel in the tan and brown barn in the background winter before last. I only wish I'd known about the project earlier in the process and thought to document it with pictures. The farmer whose name appears on the side was asking about one at a construction show in Las Vegas and commented that "it doesn't look like it'd be too hard to build one of these."

The sales rep told him in no uncertain terms that, "There's no way you could build something like this yourself." That's all it took. He and a young friend of mine who's a welder put this together for about $9,000 total including wheels and tires. All of the hydraulics were put together in the barn as well and it was painted there with Cat yellow courtesy of another friend. Finally, a neighbor in the sign business did the fancy vinyl logos and put his name on it.

Pretty neat, huh?

This looks like a rig that could be set up to be guided by a laser and computer onboard..... They do the same with ditching equipment.

He has that set up on his Dresser TD-12 and on his tile trencher (which is pulled by the same big Deere (affectionately known as 'Bruno' around the farm). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's my understanding that, after some "tweaking," Bruno puts out something over 600HP! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

All of a sudden my equipment looks rather anemic... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

thats realy neat, i would love to make one like that, but of course i couldnt afford all new steel and hydraulics so it may be a while before the appropriote parts come along in a used cheap form, most stuff does eventualy, like my root rake i had bought the plate of inch and an eight steel at a tag sale for 75 bucks but at the time didnt have anything to make the rest of the frame outa, but then i got that old forklift and the mast parts were perfect for it
