BX24 after years of BX22
I was connecting my snow blower & notice that my "cutting edge/wear bar" was worn out. I flip it around for this year, but a new one will be needed for next year.

Theses are things that we can easily forget, please check yours.

Same with my 3 year old BX2750. They must be pretty soft steel.

I burn one side of a edge off per 6-8 hrs of use. Origanal Kubota blades are very soft. I got some 2.5"X5/16" and some 3/8" strap and made my own. much cheaper. The bolts that hold the blower to the blower hitch frame come loose on me several times now. Red lock tight with lock nuts, lock washers and it still came loose today.

For those with wear issues. Is your blower properly adjusted? There should be 1/16 to 1/8" clearance of the blade above the surface. I have been running my blower for about 1 1/2 year in MN with minimal wear. Have just added wheels instead of the skid plates. Works great.

"Have just added wheels instead of the skid plates." How, where, photos? I was thinking of doing the same thing to allow me to more easily do pathways around the property. Thanks.

Dennis,

Could you describe the wheels you installed on your blower? Or do you have photos? My main question is, are the wheels in front of the scraper edge or behind it?

My gravel driveway undulates enough where if the blower is in the float postion, the scaper edge can dig into the crown of the drive. It can also dig into a bump in the gravel drive. The shoes only raise the blower about 3/4" above the driveway. I'm thinking of adding larger shoes or wheels. But in my case, I would want the wheels to precede the scraper edge so the little rises and falls in the driveway would not be hit by the edge because the wheels would touch the rise before the edge would.

Wheels are behind blower. Large angle iron mounted to skid plate holes (3 1/2 wide, 6" sides, 3/8" wall). 5" diameter polypropylene caster wheels (Grainger ~$9 each, 280lb rating) set back on the angle iron allowing complete swivel. There have been other posts with wheels having more reinforcement. This was just simpler but adequate I think. Will have to take pictures and post. Blower has been getting a workout these past 2 days.
