Cheep hydraulic dump trailer

I had a what I think was a clever idea tell me what you all think.I wanted a dump trailer for my yard but hydraulic systems are so expensive so I got the bright idea of using a long ram jack (like what you would find on an engine lift) but they don't work well or at all for that matter. So I took an old electric over hydraulic plow pump my dad had and took the jack apart and plugged the port for the Hand pump and had a line made up and it actually works very well. My deck on the trailer is roughly 39"x81" and I was able to sit right on the front edge and it lifted me no problem 190 pounds right where it has the least leverage. I am in the process of adding a second piston as they were only like $20 through harbor freight . It's not a pretty trailer but if it works as well as I think it might I may have to give it a face lift. Will post pics when I can if anyone is interested.

Will do we have it apart right now we had originally set it up for 1 piston in the center but it was so cheep and worked so well I am adding a second so we will go from original center of the frame to just outside the frame on both sides. Will get pics when we can get back to work on it.

Was the "electric over hydraulic plow pump" as snow plow pump?

I have a small dump trailer set up with a hoist jack.

Hm, intriguing. Anyone try this using air and a plow angle piston? Would be nice to not break my back tilting our trailer and then having it come down harshly when driving something up on it. Now you have me thinking

It is a snow plow pump and the pistons are converted hoist jacks. The one thing we are unsure of is weather or not the pump resevoir holds enough oil to run both pistons.

I do also have pretty good control of the lowering speed as well .also we were a little concerned about the piston over extending so we installed a cut off switch at the back it gets to the set height and shuts off the pump. As I said when weather is better and we can work on it I will get
