Chicken carnage

Ever thought of getting. Maremma Guardian dog. We had them for sheep but the are brilliant for guarding stock. They bond with them, sleep out with them and guard your property. The will stop anything that endangers the chickens and also guard the property. If you bond them with the family they will probably not guard the stock. Ours use to live in the paddock with the sheep and would always patrol and sit where they could keep an eye on things. Check em out on the web.

Haven't heard of the Maremma GD but I'll check them out. I did look into Pyrenese and Anatolian Shepherds but my concern with any LGD is ensuring that they have enough room to run around. We're on nearly 80 acres but have neighbors on both sides of our home (house on each side is within 150 yards or so) and I'm not quite ready to put up a fence yet, even the electric tape kind. I'm up to my ears in projects (we just moved here in Jan). Thanks again for the tip.

One thing to remember about these dogs is that they Bark, could be an issue with the neighbours. We have a lot of deer problems here and they kept anything other than the sheep out. Space isn't the issue I don't believe with these dogs as they are not bread to be a house dog. Once they have bonded with the stock they will fret is removed from them.
