You are going to be swimming in eggs in no time. Isa's can lay near an egg a day, wouldn't be suprised that once they get going you could be getting 40+ eggs a day.

Chickens can lay for up to 6+ years, but their productivity starts to drop off greatly around year 3. It also depends on breed and if you use lights in the winter to keep production up, that has a tendency to reduce their productivity faster.

You may be going to do it, but I would put a flight net over the top. Here is a good source that is reasonable. Bird Control & Netting - 2" heavy knotted .

Super palace, 'fraid mine make do with what looks more like a hut against yours. A friend has a neat idea for cleaning out. As chickens tend to poop whilst sitting on the perch, he has put a tray underneath,the length of the perch, covered with mesh. The poop falls through the mesh and into the tray.The whole tray actually slides out from one end of the chicken house, he tips it onto his compost heap and slides the tray back in. Must admit yours would be an awful long tray!

The roost is 16 feet long, above the 16 nest boxes.
You are right, would be a long tray.
