I'm exploring buying a frame mounted Chinese BH and am confused about all the names such as JW-03, HW-03, LW-6, Guilin, etc. I can't seem to find any kind of explanation or cross reference. Are they all the same under different names?

In my consulting and import work I travel to China and visited the Jinma factory around two years ago, so I'm not worried about importing it myself. For the low dollars I will spend on this, I'm willing to live with the well documented complaints.

It's my observation that they are the same except for the cylinders are of different brands.

I also thought they were the same until I bought a narrow bucket for my JW-7 and found there are indeed differences between what I purchased and what others purchased that also had the JW-7 moniker.

The bucket mounts were quite different and I had to return the bucket and pay the buisness a restocking fee. I then had to have the dealer I purchased the backhoe from order a bucket from the proper factory.

My Great Bend 651 backhoe has a solid steel frame that attaches directly to the tractor at the top link pin under the driver seat, it does not use the top link (adjustable rod/bar). All the weight is supported by this top pin and the hoe only uses the lower links (drawbars?) to stabilize the unit.

I have seen other backhoes that connect using all three links (w/adjustable top link) and they don't look as strong or as stable (you want the backhoe to be connected solid to the tractor with no side to side or up/down movement).

I am not sure what is out there, but trying to supply food for thought.

From what I've seem heard they are different enough to make parts interchangeability difficult without adaption.

I have a JW03, works OK not best for accurate digging to much depth but good enough for my occasional use. I can get to about 5.5 feet but the last 2 feet are pretty slow going.
I had to reinforce the frame at the support pins as they bent there (it is a 2002 model) and I think one of the other models had this flaw corrected. The JW03 has some weak cylinders that I broken 2 of (tear out the rod ends and the swing cylinders are also weak.) I had to weld up the rod ends, (actually made my own rod ends & welding it in for the last one. I had all 3 break luckly they are all same size on the arm... They also have what appears to be the transport storage hole layout, but if you put it in that spot you will bend it and or tear off the hyd cylinder feed line from the cylinder.. The HYD valve also is rather shaky with flaws that make fine control more difficult than some better models bear in mind that I still like mine but it was a iffy situation that I needed to trench in some elec service which it worked for but I could have rented & save some $ over long haul.

The Guillian I think are made in Korea from what I remember, most all the info I had is on my OLD PC that hasnt run in a year or two... HW03 was different in a few ways as well.
