Chinese motors in ATV\'s. Any good?

Wondering if any of you have any first hand experience with them. E-TON looks pretty good. Thanks

Re: Chinese motors in ATV\'s. Any good?

I personally don't have one but the neighbor has a pair of E-Ton Viper's (90cc I believe) and to my knowledge has had no problems with them (the engines). I'll check with him but if I recall the body plastic and "bells/whistles" are of mediocre quality and may not be as durable as Suzuki/Honda...

Thanks bczoom. Attached is a pamphlet scan (specs) of one that a dealer a mile down the road from me has.

Re: Chinese motors in ATV\'s. Any good?

Looks like a big version of my neighbors.

Who's the rider? Do they have any experience? I know my neighbor's 90's go pretty quick (probably over 30 mph). If you have an inexperienced driver, I'd set it back a bit.

When my daughter came of age, I almost got her an E-Ton. Looked like the best bang for the buck. That was back a few years and I made a last minute choice to go with a Suzuki 50cc just because I was familiar with them. Well, she outgrew it quickly (she's got a Suzuki 80cc now) and now I'm sitting on a pair (I bought one for my son as well but he's now only 3 and to much of a maniac to drive) of $2000 machines that are sitting collecting dust. Could have saved a bundle if I went with E-Ton. Oh well, another year or 2 and my son will have a couple to ride.

My soon to be 17 year old son, my 13 year old daughter (maybe) and on occasion myself. My son has ridden before. I'm sorta skeptical as to the quality of the motor though. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

With teenagers, I'd probably be more worried about the plastic.

Out of curiosity, what do the E-Ton 150's cost?

What kind of terrain are you going to be riding in? The main reason I ask is if you're on hills with a loose surface, the smaller 2 wheel drive machines are pretty hard to keep on track when coming down. They just slide all over unless you apply even braking (front and back).

$2,700.00 out the door with registration.

It would be used mostly on the trails around where we live.

Re: Chinese motors in ATV\'s. Any good?

That's a bit more than what I expected.

Have you looked at/considered some of the smaller utility/sport type from other manufacturers?

Do you want something for just sport or do you have any utilitarian uses for it (yard work, firewood...)?

I was thinking the same thing when he told me.

Yes, but not smaller. I think the 150 is a good size.

Son was saying to maybe get a utility type instead. I'm open to all options. Thanks.
