Guys I need some help eradicating chipmunks that have starting digging numerous holes around the house and pole barn. Tried some of the poison peanuts meant for gophers but that doesn't seem to phase them. I have heard of a few chemicals that mimic fox urine, a natural predator to make the critters relocate. Has anyone used this or other methods to make "Chip & Dale" pack their bags and head down the road?

Please don't tell me to get a cat as the wife is really allergic (to the cats not the chipmunks). All suggestions appreciated.

Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but my parents fought a long battle with chipmunks trying every poison know to man and even then some, plus traps, noise repellents, plugging holes, all kinds of concoctions in all kinds of foods, me on the porch with a BB gun...
Good luck.
Come to think of it, their problem escalated when the neighbor two houses down with the free roaming cat moved away. I'd suggest something for the wife's allergies.

I have tried using highway flares. I cut them into several small pieces.
Use propane torch to get started then drop into the hole and cover it.

Watch for smoke coming from other near by holes cover them. If you get enough of the fumes from the burning flares into their den the critters will "kick the bucket".

That did not get rid of all of them so that last attempt was with a hava-hart trap baited with pecan. Got four so far, haven't seen one in two weeks.

We've got more pets than I'd care to think about but, the three barn cats are excellent rodent control and since they stay outside, no allergy problems. I put a pet door in the barn and we put lots of bedding for them and feed them extra in the winter. Spay them and their number wont increase. The ones we have were semi feral that had been trapped behind a KFC. I think they enjoy the country life much better.

Rat traps(you know, the big mouse traps) baited with peanut butter.

I use a pellet gun. I also use a hav-a-hart trap followed by the pellet gun. Seems to be a never ending battle.

I think their population cycles with the acorn crop and my attempts at population control have minimal effect.
