Also check out the Woodmaxx as they have a smaller size chipper that may also work. The Wallenstein is a good unit, just mentioning another good machine that may fit.
Good luck
I've had two chippers. Previously, the Wallenstein BX42 on a Ford 1700( around 25 hp) and currently a Wallenstein BX62 on my Kubota M6040(around 64 hp). Both are excellent chippers. I chip 100% small(6" max) Ponderosa pine tree, whole. I thin & chip 750-900 trees every spring as I manage my tree stands. Never needed anything bigger than the BX62 because a 6" pine which is some 25' to 30' long is almost more than I can manhandle. Never needed any kind of hydraulic in-feed either - the chippers will grab and pull the tree in with almost violent force.
I had a JD 4010, which is 18.5 hp, and used my MacKissic TPH-122 on it.
That JD and this chipper would take up to 3.5" wood. On some, it would bog a little bit. Never really had a shutdown like frequently happened on the old Troy Bilt with its 8 or 10 hp gas engine. The Mac is so easy to work on compared to the Troy Bilt.
You can get another Mac model that will direct the chips rather than let them fall.
Using the same Mac on my JD 2025 now. It absolutely never bogs.
