I hooked up my Normet/Valby CH222 chipper for the first time last night. it is an older model with old version HF231 hydraulic feed. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if I need to modify the controls.

I connected the hydraulic lines and when I push the control bar, nothing happens. Reading thru the old manual I downloaded I see

" The chippers valve is built for open center hydraulics. If your tractor has a closed centre hydraulic system, can the valve be changed to suit your system by changing the plug at the end of the valve"

So I believe that the Kioti 7320 Tractor has a closed hydraulic system ( am I right?) and this chipper needs a different plug with a "serial adapter to work with this tractor. Am I correct or am I way off base here. I also uploaded a video to give a better idea of what I am looking at and how clueless I am.

What happens when you move (or bungee) the tractor's SCV lever either all the way forward or back?

Most hydraulic motors, or implements that have their own hydraulic controls (valves, etc..) on them require continuous flow circulating from the tractor. Oil only circulates when the tractor's SCV lever is operated, like when your operating a hydraulic cylinder.

Closed center hydraulics are rare in CUTS. There were some Deeres in the past that had it, but no one else I know of. It's a more expensive system than open center.
Your tractor's owner's or shop manual should say.

Your video was taken with the camera turned the wrong way so the view is cropped. Makes it hard to see much.

Coby is right, you need to operate the remote's lever to get flow to the chipper. If it does not have a detent then you can use a bungie cord. One direction of the remote lever will make the chipper feed run backwards. Once you figure out how to connect it and which way to move the remote lever, mark the hoses and the remote connector (I use cable ties) so you hook it up the same way in the future. Some valves can be modified to have a detent.

I appreciate the response. I was working by myself and i did manipulate the lever in the cab but all that did. That i could see from there was make the hydraulic cable flex a little bit. I will try to find a way to bungee it so there is constant pressure.

I went back out there tonight and bungied the hydraulic handle forward I The chipper works great. I just need to figure out a permanant solution since I iusing the bungie pretty much makes the right hand door useless. Coby and Eric, Thank you for helping me with this.

For some valves you can get parts to add a detent position. Try looking for a make and model on the valve body and looking that up on like.

For a tractor as new as yours, from what I see on the Kioti website, it comes with one rear remote circuit with more optional.

In the circumstance of one remote, it is common for the remote valve to have a detent in one direction.

To be clear about a dentent, you push the lever into the detent position and then let go and the fluid continues to flow until the pressure suddenly rises say when a cylinder reaches the end of its stroke at which point the lever kicks out of the detent. Like a log splitter valve which retracts the cylinder by itself once you pull the lever.

With a fed motor like you have, it will not need full system pressure to operate so the valve would stay in detent until you pulled it out.

Before settling for the bungie cord, ask your dealer or read your manual

Your tractor is open center!

I appreciate the help I have recieved. I will be setting the tractor up with a detent style rear remote. But in the mean time, I got the Chipper working.
