I am wondering if it would if it would be possible to use a pto chipper to grind up gypsum board scraps.I could then mix it in with my loam and make good use of it rather than paying to dispose of it.I know it would make a lot of dust but i could work up some sort of dust control for it.I just dont know if it would clog the knives.

I just threw 4 sheets in my backyard drive and I run over them and after awhile they get ground in, they dont like water/rain, LOL

That stuff is good for a garden because of the phosphate in it.

Heck throw some dirt over them and drive over them, In Florida we eat lots of oysters and have lots of shells left over for yard fill, I would not run the drywall thru a chipper, that would dull knives in a hurry

Yes you probably could use the chipper but it would be a timely endeavor. A better use of your time would be to just roto till it into the area of choice.

If taking on this rototill method, be extremely careful to keep the air filters clean and replaced. Back in the 70's my dad did some major engine damage to the tractor because of the drywall dust flying. Also note that we were taking in 6 to 20 loads a week (drywall contractors), this equals a large volume of material. After about 3 years no need for further dry wall so we stopped taking their loads. Great soil now. Also found spots where we have recently dug (backhoe work) where the board is still intact just slick as snot. IMHO it did not decompose as others would have you think. What was tilled up decomposed in the first year or 2. no other problems with this except to say make sure you till it completely if not it will just lay there.

Just my 2 cents and a little knowledge because of doing it
