It is interesting to hear posters here mention the various colors of tractors from which they have to choose. When you live in a low population, more remote area such we do, we just don't have those options. I am shopping, not because I don't adore my present little pumpkin, but because quite unexpectedly, my needs have changed somewhat dramatically. I am not in a rush. I have some time.

Orange or Green. That's about it, really. I would have to drive an hour or two to even look at other brands and some of those dealerships are rather like an old gas station with two machines sitting out, if you know what I mean.

So, perhaps a Green/Orange, both 2320. Wish I had more to consider sometimes. How comfortable would you be dealing with a more remote, less robust dealership?

well that depends on the color tractor . if its orange or green chances are ur not gonna need to see the dealer to often anyway . if its some other tractor who knows ? not saying deere and kubota are the only good tractors but there track record speaks for itself . a off brand tractor from a small independent dealer is not a good combo to me .

In my area we have two deere dealers, a dealer that sells Mahindra only, and a dealer that sells Mahindra and Kubota. So far for my "off brand" tractor I have only needed spray paint and filters and the independent dealer had both and sold them with a smile. Wish I got the same service from the large deere dealer when I need parts for my deere lawn mower. I think the small Mahindra dealer tries harder to please his customers.

We have quite a bit to chose from within 30-50 miles. Green, orange, blue, a few shades of red. All we are missing is a Case dealer.

I'm luckey. I'm within 15 miles to green, blue, orange, and red. The blue and orange dealer is the same. The parts people are good to deal with concerning my ford 861. Red, they were a little pricey for what I was looking for. After sitting in the seat of the other 3 decided green due to price, fit and good feel for the dealership all around. Plus I had purchased a mower from them 7 months prior.
Good luck, I'm sure which ever you choose, green or orange, either one will provide you with many years of seat time.

Just go to the Hardware and buy some paint. Pin strip a name or send away for a decal. They are all made overseas anyhow. 90% of the folks will believe the name you paint on it is what you got anyhow. Heck 50% of the dealers would probably be fooled. I can see it now a green and yellow Jimma, folks would say that sure is a nice new Deere you got there, did ya get a hat with it?

There actually are green and yellow Jinmas around. I have worked on one and while it was in the shop we had a couple of people asking how much we were wanting for that little Deere.

Very true. If I am not mistaken several tractors have been manufactured by one company and with few changes have been sold by multiple companies. I have Mahindra 2615 manufactured by Mitsubishi and have been told this tractor model was once sold by Cub.

A lot depends on you. How much do you rely on the dealer? If you need them to service, pick up and deliver your tractor, then you should probably purchase from one of your local dealers. If you do all of these things yourself, then the only reason for the dealer would be warranty work. I think that in reality, warranty claims are actually few and far between. If there is a warranty issue, either you could haul it to them, or take care of the problem yourself. Some dealers are happy to get you the parts needed under warranty and you do the labor. An awful lot depends on your circumstances.

My current dealer is 650 miles away, he ships me what I need, all at a fair price. Out of the 7 different local (within 1 hours drive) dealers that we have, I am not comfortable enough with any of them to purchase a tractor.:(

Do whatever you are most comfortable with. Only you know what that is.

Good luck

Looking at big tractors, Valmet/Valtra are built after order to the customer's specification of all the options (don't know if it's the case for North America customers, as they are built in Finland, would delay delivery quite a bit I guess. edit: seems that it is available for NA customers also, I checked the webpage).
Anyhow, they have offered different colors for ~20 years. So then you don't have a problem with choosing the color first and the brand second :D

(some of the models are outdated)

Well unfortunately Valtra doesn't make any CUTs.
