Choosing bandsaw blades?

   / Choosing bandsaw blades? #11
Rule of thumb for bandsawing steel - minimum number of teeth engaged in the steel thickness is 3. For example, you wouldn't want to cut thinner than 1/4" on a 12 tooth/inch blade.

We used a solid lube stick from MSC or McMaster Carr. It is like a giant crayon and you just push it into the running blade every so often.

I cut mostly Metals and use Bi Metal blades only
I purchase some Bi Metal blades for my dad years back for his wood vertical band saw.
He told me that they were the best blades that he ever used.
He was a hobbyist not a commercial worker.
Spend the money and go Bi Metal all the way.
But then again that is just me.
I have (4) Horizontal metal band saws and on my (2) 1" blade saws I can run 2/3 Bi Metal blades
That is (2) teeth per inch /(3) teeth per inch my saws run them GREAT on thick material.
I change out to finer teeth depending on what I am cutting But I absolutely Love the 2/3s they look like wood blades but I can cut Stainless Steel with them all day with no problems
