Veteran's day is Monday, and Christmas is coming! Anyone else with parade plans? I'm thinking about going in a local Veterans day parade. If it works, I'll put posters up on my trailer with the names and theater of operation for veteran friends and family.

Our Cub Scout pack is planning for the local Christmas parade on Dec 1st too. We're looking to run three inter-related floats behind tractors. I'll have my Farmall out. The other two I'm not sure of, but one will probably be a Kubota.

I'm looking for a local parade to run my 8N in... now that i have the left brake working again. I think I may have found one in a local retirement community. I'll have to see if they are still taking apps.

We took everything but the camera! We had another family to ride with mine on a simple float. They called while we were enroute; one of them had come down sick. So we decided just to drive the tractor in the parade. We didn't take the camera, cause we all thought we'd be on the tractor or float the whole time!

It was great to see the turnout respecting our local Veterans. In other area's of Sacramento Ca there was not so good of turnout.

In fact, get this! Sacramento wouldn't allow a Vet's parade without HUGE insurance policies and security and stuff. A few local Vet's were on the news, lamenting the fact. The Vet's groups don't have the funds to do all the liability and stuff for a free parade respecting the Americans who fought for our Freedoms and rights.

Can you belive that stuff?!?! Oh, and to boot, our Governor is a Vietnam Vet, and advertised the fact heavily in this last election; you'd think he would stand up and say something!

Our Boyscout troop led the Labor Day
parade and carried the flags.
I followed w/ the enclosed troop trailer
behind my TC 35D and had lots of
good complements on the whole group.

That is great! It is wonderful to get them involved like that!

Our Pack was in a similar situation. For the local Labor Day parade, we were going to march. I was turning in our entry form, when I found out there was no color/honor gaurd this year. A Vet's group had done it for years, but was unavailable for some reason. I told them I had a Pack of Cub Scouts reay to go, with carrying colors and all. The organizer went down and talked to our Pack leader; we led the parade! It was really a great thing for the boys!
