Chuckwagon Honda ?

Hi.
I have a CW UV that runs a 11hp Honda engine. My question is? does anyone know if I could bypass the foot thottle & run like a motocycle or atv "custom rigged twist or thumb push throttle" rigged to this Honda engine instead? Reason being I have to setup customs controls because of my bad legs.

First, welcome to TBN.

I can't speak specifically for your UTV but I believe the answer is yes. Many have changed their UTV's to hand controls for the same reason. You can first check with the manufacturer to see if they have something. If not, check locally with any companies that make these features for cars as they could probably do it for you.

That is exactly the way the Honda Odysseys and Pilots (the dune buggies, not cars) were set up. The Steering wheel kind of reminded me of the yoke in an airplane. Because these buggies had separate front and rear brakes, there were separate brake levers on each side of the steering wheel and a thumb throttle on the inside of the wheel. You could possibly kind the parts you need on Ebay to do a conversion. Search under ATV's for an Honda Odyssey.

I have setup a temp. conversion already for my brake & throttle. I welded & bolted dwn. a small piece of angle iron to the floor, from there, I ran a {pinned} about 1" x 20" steel rod standind straight up from inside the console {beside parking break} & in front of the seat. This way all I do is push foward for brake (drum brake that is /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif . Atop the brake rod, I have a small pinned leaver that I kinda push dwn. for my throttle, with this conversion I was able to keep & use the factory brake & throttle cables with out moddding them.
Anyway, on my throttle setup idea? I think if I were able to use like a "twist throttle" it would not only look but also feel better than what I have so far now. The only thing that really worries me is the "twist cable" itself, would it work on a type engine like the 11hp that I have? I think im gonna get one & try around with one & see what I can come up with & just see.

Thanks man, yeah I have & know about the hand controls for cars. No way I was gonna put them BIG controls on my UV though. I mean their fine for cars etc.. but, im not gonna clutter up my New ride. I actually think when I get through I will be very happy with my clean setup, if all works out of lol.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
