Anybody own a Chuckwagon?

Looked at the 4x2 and 4x4 the other day. Seemed utilitarian enough, didnt have a lot of the comforts of the more expensive models, but that's why thy are more expensive, right.

I've seen the 4x2 advertised for 4,500 and the 4x4 for 6,300, is that what a guy should expect to pay?

Also, does anybody have to the price breakdown for the
Ranger 500 4x4
Mule 3010
Mule 610
comparable Deere

I dont want a speed demon or toy, I need a 4x4 workhorse.

thanks

I purchased the Brister's Chuck Wagon 4X2 last fall and have ~50 hours on it now. I have been very pleased with its performance and have not had any problems with it. It is a basic and rugged machine that I use on the farm almost daily and it does get the job done satisfactorly. It is not as fancy or luxurious as many of the others but the price was certainly better. I call on it to do things and put it in places that I probably would not do if I had paid $12K for it. Also, I am not very far from the factory if I need something but I have not had to play that card yet. One hint on getting the drain plug all the way out if you get one and try to change the oil. The motor is mounted on rubber bushings and you have to prise the motor back from the frame just a little to get enough clearance to remove the drain plug completely. This is not a problem if you recognize the problem up front.

Good Luck in your selection.

Do you regret not getting the 4x4?
How much did it cost you?

Weve been selling the Chuck Wagon a little over a year now, alongside our Land Pride vehicles (both Honda powered). No warranty issues so far. Prices mentioned are good. They are being sold in some big box stores in some areas (not happy news for us dealers but might be a plus for buyers in these areas). For $2, more, the 4wd offeres a noticable difference in power (only2 more HP but that is almost a 20percent increase) hydraulic 4 wheel brakes and of course 4 wheel drive. These are great rigs, US made, not to be confused with the Chinese imports that sell for similar pricing.

We prchased a 2wd chuckwagon last fall and we love it. Simple to use. The kids are crazy about it. We have taken it out on several trails and I was impressed with the performance. So far no problems just fun.

My friend has a 4X2 Chuck Wagon and loves it. He has had it over a year with no problems. He did tell me it was somewhat difficult to change oil. I have a John Deere CX Gator and I tried to talk him into buying one. I glad I didn't and if I had seen the Chuck Wagon before I purchased the Gator I probably would have gone for the Chuck Wagon.

I own both the 4x4 and 2X4 Chuck Wagon although the 2X4 was purchased at TSC and has the name Trail Wagon on it. It is the same machine made by Brister. The 4X4 was purchased at Rural King and cost $6300 then I added accessories. The 2X4 came with the top, windshield, front and rear hitches, plus the low tone muffler, sold for $5134. I bought the 4X4 Dec of last year and have pulled & pushed carts and trailers loaded with 1000 pounds of gravel, tilled 3 acres with a 3 foot rear tine ATV tiller, hauled feed (8, 50 lb bags) , etc. I am pleased with everything it has done. I live in hill country so the 4x4 will probably be handy in very muddy or snowy conditions. I just recently purchased the 2X4 but believe it will do most things the 4X4 will do. Accessories are resonable priced also. I went this way due to the good price, I'm not going to haul a 1000 or 1200 lb payload as a rule, can tow 1100 lbs if needed, plus the transaxles, engines, and CVT's are made by reliable companies so parts should be available if needed. I can also use it on trails I take my Polaris 325 4X4 on. I noticed a couple of posts mentioned oil changing. Both the Honda GX340 and GX390 have two drain plugs, one on each side at the bottom. On the Chuck Wagon I remove the one toward the rear of the vehicle with a ratchet box end wrench and have ample room to remove it. The one toward the front is blocked by the frame making it difficult to remove (just thought I would share that since it would be easy to over look). Hope this helps you VIKING and no I am not a dealer nor do I work for Brister. This machine just happens to meet my needs.
