I thought I'd post my yield from the first cidering I've done, so if anyone plans to press some apples, and needs a specific amount of cider they will know how many pounds of apples to acquire. We pressed 225# and our yield wasw 9 gallons. We decided that we wanted 6 gallons for hot spiced cider, so I now have to go and buy 200# more so I can make 10 gallons of hard cider. I will start out with 11 gallons, and plan to lose 1 through transferring, trub, etc. The cider we made tastes great. We used primarily Tydeman apples. These are early season, and since the late apples are coming off, the farmer wants to get rid of them. I pay 10 cents per pound. So, it's off to the orchard I go!
