I've just developed this annoying circulation problem where my fingertips turn white and get numb if they get even a little bit cold. (Raynaud's disease) This was happening to me in the summer! Now that it's getting cooler around here, I'm going to have to wear gloves pretty much every minute I'm not in the house, so I'm really looking for some warm medium duty gloves that are thin enough to feel things through. Cotton or leather work gloves have not been warm enough for me. If I can find anything good, I'll probably be wearing them inside my normal winter gloves when the snow starts coming down.

Have any of you guys run across anything like this? Needless to say, fingerless gloves are not in the cards.:D

I have that problem, I do know the feeling very good. My finger tips will turn white usually below 65 degrees, My DR. says it's from smoking and I believe him, it's restricting blood flow to the extremities and I live in Florida. I have had this for about 5 years or so and I have to keep my fingers warm to stop this problem.
I know I could quit smoking but old habits are hard to quit, I put my hands in my pockets often in cold temperatures and it helps, I really do need to stop the cigarettes, my body is talking to me and I'm not listening.
Do you smoke? I am 60 and time has taken it's toll with me.
Keeping fingers warm is best done with mittens and they wont fit in gloves.
If you do smoke and are up in the years, quit smoking now and exercise your fingers like make a hard fist and releasing the grip that will get them working again
And I have 33 years of living in Maine and been here for 27.

As a motorcyclist I have searched high and low for gloves that are thin and warm. I don't think they exist. I don't like the feel of the controls with thick gloves necessary in cooler weather. I solved my problem by installing heated grips, not sure what you can do, but my wife likes the polypropylene glove liners inside her protective motorcycle gloves. Good luck in your quest and let us know if you find some, sorry you are having to deal with it as a necessity.

Not exactly thin but I have a pair of heated gloves that are awsome. Battery operated. Worth every penny. Do use up batteries a lot but I use Nicad batts so no waste.
battery heated gloves heated clothing

I know you can get 12v ones you can plug into a lighter socket on your tractor would be even better.

Check out Atlas Work Gloves. They are a thin, seamless knit glove with a nitrile coating on the palm and fingertips. They hold up really well and are warm yet breathable. I can stand them in the summer, if I have to have gloves on, but in the milder seasons they feel great. I think they'll make a great liner glove if I have the need. Look for them in lawn and garden stores and ag stores. They're currently promoting them to the equestrian trade.

Tom, one more great tip for you, get a box of those surgical gloves and wear them on the inside of your gloves. That will keep you happy

Thanks guys, for the tips -- I'm checking them all out. It looks like I should be able to find something that will keep the old digits in the pink, although as Skyco said, thin and warm might just not exist. I like the idea of electric gloves for snowblowing, although I do have a heated cab now that sure takes the sting out of those frigid days.

Jim - it's funny you should mention smoking. When I told my wife (a nurse) what was going on with my fingers, she said I'd better quit smoking, then laughed, 'cuz I've never smoked. You'd think nurses would be more sympathetic, wouldn't you? P.S. I'm about your age.

I think I'll check the local ski shops, too.

Thanks again.
