The post about the tractor breaking in two and the discussion on lifting the wheels off the ground has me wondering. I cannot locate my manual for the 2365 hoe I have and would like to find out if I am screwing up lifting my tires off the ground to get the maximum benefit from the Bigfoot pads I put on. How are my fellow Ck 20 owners doing it? When I was digging up those old dead oleander bushes, I needed all the grip I could get and was off the ground at least on the rear tires. Am I courting disaster?

I did not exactly lift the rear wheels off the ground very often but did routinely unload them by using the outriggers on my CK20/KB2365/big feet combo.

I think your concern about breaking tractors in half is exaggerated. No question it happened to the CK25 in NC but that is the first report on TBN of such a problem on any CK. Lots of people are using the CK TLBs pretty aggressively without any problem.

That is what I was thinking. And besides, the last thing I want to do is climb up and down to make sure my wheels are still touching. I am to out of shape for to much of that!

I leave all four tires on the ground. I put the stabilizers down just enough to take the weight off the tires and the loader is just placed flat on the ground. The way I see it, the stabilizers are not made for lateral pressure. By that, I mean that if you lift up the tires off the ground and start digging, you will see that the tractor gets dragged towards the hole. That stress is completely on the stabilizers pulling them from the side. Plus the tractor moves much more when the tires are off the ground. This is how I do it and after 2-1/2 years, 300 engine hours and over 50 trees and stumps, it still works.

Sometimes, I even strap it to the truck so it doesn't move. Setup like this, I can pull some very large stumps!

I was taught on the full size backhoes.. a Deere 410. And also on a '1/2 size' john deere 110, everyone I know lifts the machine with the stabilzers and the front bucket. I use my ck25 HARD. I'll move myself with the backhoe, Push up and move it to the side.. set it down. Just like the constuction guys do with full size machines.

I think that other ck25 was a bad housing cast. What was he doing before digging?? I cannot believe it's because of using the stabilzers.

Just my 2 cents.

I was taught on an old Case 530 Construction King. Pull up to the job, run the stabilizers all the way down, flip the bucket straight down and plant it. 15 minutes later hit the stabilizers again because they have bleed off! I said old! Seems that when I leave the tires on the ground, my Kioti moves around more.
