I was using my CK 20 today and had run it about an hour ,when I noticed the motor started to pull down . This did this when I was sitting still and not moving. I was running about 20... rpm and it would pull down to 10... or below like it was going to die and about 3 or 4 seconds it would resume back to normal. It did not smoke any and it did this random sometimes under a load and sometimes not.:confused:It did this about 5 or 6 times in a two hour period. I call my dealer and he said maybe water in the fuel, does this sound right or not? He asked me how much fuel I had in the tank and I was down to about a 1/4 . He said put in some 911 and keep the tank full this time of year because it will form water in half full tanks. Any ideas what I should check or look for. I only have 90 hrs on the tractor. Thanks

i would say the dealer was right.1/4 tank can create condensation or you got some water last fillup

That definately sounds like a fuel problem when just sitting there and the rpms go up and down. Last Winter, I picked up some fuel at not my normal place. Temps @25'. Engine started fine and after moving snow for about 10 minutes, the fun began. Rpms would go to whatever the throttle was set at then die to about 600, back up, then down. The fuel in the filter bowl looked clear. I didn't want any problems, needed the tractor running, so I drained the tank, filter bowl and lines to the injector pump. I re-used the same filter because it looked clean. I put in new fuel from my normal place and it ran perfectly. I always use an additive but something must not have been right with that other fuel. If your tank is low, I probably would just drain it just in case you have some water, fill it with fresh fuel and use an additive for at least the Winter months.

Fill your tank with diesel and add the correct amount of diesel additive for winter use. I recommend Power Service (white bottle) for the below freezing months. I've been running it for the past 5 years and over 400 engine hours and never had a problem with water in the fuel or gelled diesel.
