I had been wanting to get this downed birch since the winter but couldn't get close enough with my old truck and it was too long and heavy to move in good sized pieces. That little tractor made its own road, hooked on and slipped that puppy outta there so easy. It must have weighed around 500 or more because it was soaked with water.
It will definitely give me a few more years of back health

Oh, that kind of grapple. I was thinking of a two pronged tool used to grap the log (like ice tongs). That piece of gear would definitely help a bunch. I'll just put it on the list.

The grapple has been on my wish list for years. You'll start clearing those woods soon since really that little road you build should be much wider and then you will end up with piles of pushed up debris. The grapple lets you pick up those piles and consolidate them into a single high and dry pile for burning or rotting.

These tractors make great skidders. I pulled out a 57 year old doug fir log that was 87 feet long and 27 inches at the butt. I hooked onto the fat end and started pulling, it was too heavy, so I cut the log down until I could drag it and I ended up only being able to pull 8 foot chunks of that log at a time.

I use a 3pt drawbar and a grab hook which allows me to hook up close to the tree and then lift the butt of the log slightly. Lifting the butt makes logs MUCH easier to skid and keeps them cleaner too.

I have a drawbar as well, great tool. Lately I've been usig the strongback of the blade to lift the log. That grapple would be great.

I was really amazed at how easily it pulled that soaked birch out of there. I can only imagine the pulling power of a 40 or 50 hp. Loose earth and uphill...didn't even hesitate. My girlfriend was laughing when I tried to lift it to get the rope under it.

I just made that little path to get close to the tree without tipping over. I really like the AG tires, great traction, but they do tend to tear up the ground.

Ya know, I do have a birthday coming up

The pic shows the tree...I know it only a twig for some. But 3 weeks ago I would've been chunking and humping that thing to my old truck on the road. I love my little tractor.

Man, I like that trailer. I just have a 1900 lb utility trailer. If I take the loader off I'm just over the weight rating by a couple of hundred pounds. Hopefully I won't need to do that for awhile.
