Kioti CK27 (sold @ 310 hours), Kubota F3060, Gehl 5635
Hi guys! I recently bought my first tractor, a brand new ck27 gear 3 weeks ago and so far I'm super happy with it. I've put around 30 hours on it so far cleaning up my property doing some loader work, box blading etc. I'm getting to the point where I want to cut the 20 years of over grown grass in the back of my property, it's like 4' plus high. I know it's going to work my new tractor mowing it down. I was wondering from some of you guys out there if I should work my new tractor during the first 50 hours or just take it easy. By work I mean running rear implements, etc, things that take horse power and rpm or should I wait til the 50 hr service before doing heavy work? I'm sure this kind of question comes up a lot but I figured if I'm keeping this thing around I should break her in right.
Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanx Steve

Welcome to TBN. Not sure on an answer for you. I would break it in the same way I hope to operate it. It is after all a tractor. As long as you vary the rpm and dont lug the engine it should operate fine. 30 hours should already be enough.

The best way to break in a new engine/machine is to use it as it was intended.
If you have 4' of over growth set it at pto speed & go but try to avoid lugging it for prolonged periods.
Diesels need to be worked to properly seat the rings.
There are many studies that have shown working a new engine does not harm but is in-fact beneficial for proper break-in.
Monitor the engine temperature, oil pressure and be aware of any unusual noises or heat odors.
Stop on occasion to visually check for leaks any other issues.
Being a new machine that has not yet proven it self stay alert for any warning signs.

Yep, run it work it drive it!

Welcome....I had to map Starbuck. Even my wife had not heard of it(she's from Minnedosa). What river is that you have running through town and how bad was your flooding last spring?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I look forward to workin my new tractor! As for which river that is? It's the Lasalle river. The flooding was terrible last year, entire towns were wiped out. The local government had to divert water into lake Winnipeg causing wide spead flooding. Starbuck was fortunately spared, the Lasalle didn't break her banks.

Yes, my MIL sent pic's of the devastation...glad your area was spared. A few years ago we drove up for Christmas and ran smack into the Fargo flood. It was an interesting trip each way to say the least.

Enjoy your CK!
