Just wondering what hours everyone changes their oil and filter and what are your thoughts on full synthetic?

Full synthetics are great especially for colder temps. I used Mobil 1 full synthetics for all my gas vehicles. For my Duramax diesel I still use Mobil Delvac 15w-40 even during the winter because 99% of the time the truck is plugged in overnight if the temps are below freezing. I haven’t made the switch to synthetics because I’m a fan of changing the oil a bit early since I do heavy towing with the truck and figure it’s a good idea to get all the soot and other junk out of there after working it hard.

For my old Massey I used regular Dino and that’s the plan with this one to keep running 15w-40 since while it’s in for warranty work I’m having them add a block heater tomorrow. So it will always be plugged in with no worries about cold starts.

After the first 50 hour change I run Rotella T6 5w 40. Great for wintertime, you'll find many on here run it. But most name brand diesel oils are very good. Its just very easy to overthink it, as you'll find many discussions on the forum about it. Just mind your weights for your climate, and your rating recommendations, which most of the big name brands meet.

I currently run about 100 to 150 hours per oil change. I also take oil samples for analysis every other change. for $30 a sample its cheap entertainment.

I’m with you on the oil analysis I use Blackstone Labs for everything from aircraft engine oils to my tractor and my trucks. I tend to do it each oil change as trends are important the only exception would a very very early change due to some maintenance item where only a few hours or miles (depending) are on the oil. They’ve pointed out more than a few problems to me over the years with aircraft engines before I even knew there was a problem. And they almost always point out that my oil was still well within limits and could have kept going rather than be changed.... but oh well better safe than sorry.

My tractor is new..CK3510hst...Tier iv CRDI....I called dealer yesterday and he is fine with rotella t6. When I asked about maintenance he said follow schedule on inside cover of manual. After the conversation, I checked my manual and now I’m really confused.
At 50 hours it states change engine oil and filter, hst filter, and transmission filter..I’m ok with that
Every 200 hrs hst filter, transmission filter, and fuel filter...still ok
250 hrs engine oil and filter (tier 2 and 3 engines) getting confused!
400 hrs engine oil and filter, hst oil and filter, transmission filter, front axel oil...(Tier iv) now I’m confused!
400 hrs to change engine oil seems like a long time....is there something different about Tier iv? I need to get clarification from either the dealer or Kioti...
Anyone have any thoughts? This manual applies to all 2610, 3610, and 4010 made after 2015.

Change it earlier than 400 hours if you like. But on most trucks and Big equipment, a 500 hour oil change is the norm. So 400 wouldn稚 scare me too much.

I'll add that if you're not putting many hours on your machine, change engine oil yearly.

That's true, but most class 8 trucks I've been around hold 8-10 gallon or motor oil vs the CK at 6 qts.
Quite a differance

I use regular 15W-40 dino engine oil, manufactured and branded for Kubota. Same for the hydraulic fluid. When I bought my Kubota, new in 2009, I asked the service manager about using synthetic oils( motor & hydraulic ) in my new tractor. He said it would be a waste of my money -"stick with a good brand of regular dino oil" was his recommendation. They only recommend synthetic oils for equipment that run with hydraulic motors - their small tracked backhoes, skid steer, etc.

This is what is recommended in my OP manual also.

Dino oil is fine for many applications i agree. Especially when an engine is new and wearing in. But for cold climates, at least, syn is best after wear in. A 5W40 starts quite nice below zero compared to a dino oil, and reduces engine wear upon startup, and also extends engine starter life.
