CK20 Ag vs R4 and FEL \'float\'?

Hello All,
After several months of deliberation, from Kubota to Chinese to Kioti, I have about decided a Kioti CK20HST w/120FEL is the way to go. I have some questions perhaps the forum could help me with:

1) Tires: Debating between Ag and R4. Most of tractor use will be thinning, dragging, piling, deadfall and felled trees from 8 acres of virgin rolling woods.
Not much mud, mostly woody/lealfy compost base.
I do not plan to mow the lawn with this tractor. I had thought Ag's would be best for traction in the woods. But as I get close to a decision, I have been thinking maybe the R4's would be a better all- around choice. The Ag's are a little narrower? yes? That would be good for maneuverablity in the tight woods.
From a practical standpoint - is there much difference between Ag and R4 for traction?
I have an old Massey TO20 with farm Ag's and it doesnt mess the lawn too much. I do not have a 'prize' lawn. But the R4s look pretty nice.
Any opinions, Ag vs R4? Does anybody know the difference in width the tires would make?

2) Does the 120 loader have 'float'? I am not sure what this is, but have seen it mentioned several times. Seems to be a good thing.

thanks all.

I won't answer on the tires issue...I have the R4's and have been very happy with them...that is to say they work well for me in my situation

Yes, the KL120 loader does have a float mode...push the joystick forward until you feel it start to have resistance, then push a little more, you'll feel it "click" into float...very useful for tasks such as pushing snow off the driveway and such...

good answer mattey
I like the r4... I'll put my neck out there on the choppin board and state that all of my coustomers that have bought the r4 (whish is about 99%) like them also. As far as the one percent that bought the ag tire... about half of them have told me that they wish now they has bought the r4 instead.

R1's offer a bit better traction overall . But The R4's are close . I selected R4's for their tougher carcass . They are a bit less vulnerable to punctures . I also hedge my bets by using chains during the Mud/ice season .

The subject of tire choices has been debated at length on the forum. It may be more reading than you want, but my personal favorite is Choosing the Right Tire--The Ag Elimination Rule and secondly Turf vs R1 vs R4?.

Oh, for a short answer, personally, I'd prefer the R1 or Ag tires. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

This not a high traction medium. You will need the R-1's. The R-4's will slip and slide much more in these conditions. The Industrials are more of a flotation tire, the Ag tires will dig in more.

No, no . . . the R1s look like tractor tires, the R4s look like something from a construction site. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

They do look better, but I usually don't look at the tires if I am sliding off of a hill. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifWeeeeeeee
