Before I even received my CK20S I had read from those that felt it needed 3 speed ranges, that high range was lame. Upon receipt, I promptly whapped mine into 3rd/High and tried to pull the uphill driveway.....boggg city! I felt the same, that high range was too high, or that an intermediate would be cool. Just today I hauled arse to my buddy's house about 1.5 miles away. I appreciated that high range even though I was effin FREEZIN at what felt like 3MPH! Then it was up and down the driveway a hundred times trying to peel off the compact ice thats turned to semi-slush. Doing three-point turns on the paved road at the end had me switching to 2WD. I found that in 2WD that little 20 would flat-out haul uphill in 3rd/High. I thought of a couple of repeat posts that related to both, 4WD vs. 2WD and the under-powered in high thing. I believe.... Stick with 2WD unless you need the front end pulling. That little lever will easily switch between the two. Some say stop, some say neutral, some say rolling. All I can say is it's a heck of a lot easier to switch than the 205 in my old Chevy! I can pretty much switch it with my heel. Sometimes I've gotta bump it fwd or rev with the clutch, but the little t-case shifts easy. If for no other reason, use 2WD for efficiency if you don't need the extra traction and quit cryin about that 20 not having good torque in high range. A 72 speed would be cool, but I paid less than 10K for a new machine.
