sorry to hear of your troubles. I think the dealer should get you another brand new unit and deliver it to your door. If you paid top dollar for a new unit, you should be the one to put the first scratch on it.

to add to Rimshot's input, i would suggest a set of v-bar chains for the rear wheels if your driveway has some slope. i am located on the side of a small mountain and my driveway is fairly steep. it makes a huge difference in blowing snow and also gives a great deal of traction (and safety) when the gravel driveway gets icy...

post some pics when you get a chance. good luck

Thought I wait til I had some resolution to report. Guess winter could be over before that happens.

I finally got a call back from the dealer late this afternoon. They would be happy to refund my money but they couldn't get another unit until well after Christmas ( he said he called but couldn't get an update on when their next shipment would be in). As to the shoes, their supposed to be a promotion from the manufacturer. So no telling how long I might have to wait for those.

I told him I would call tomorrow. I'm considering proposing a substantial discount and calling it good. My examination doesn't lead me to believe that functionality will be substantially affected, as I initially feared . The chute rotates freely. and once I get used to seeing the damage I suspect I'll settle down a bit. Since there is a year warranty I suspect any damage will show itself during that time so my risk is somewhat reduced with regard to concealed damage.

Thanks Rim for your continued advice.

Jim, I have the chains on my wish list. So far,I managed my uphill climb with the bucket and back blade My hope was that by a slow and steady first pass I might make though this winter. By next winter we should be moving into our retirement home on a nice level lot. This planned move had me lower the chains on the needs/wants list.

Still driving around with a 60" blower in the back of my Tacoma.

If you do decide that you can live with the 'damaged' blower, ask for a considerable discount, and a 'free' set of tire chains as compensation for their mistake.

Did you go over your truck with a fine toothed comb??

Hi Bruce,

I can appreciate your chagrin. Last week my new $1600 dishwasher had similar damage; as an example Sears offered a credit of about 20%. Initially, I accepted that, then I saw the damage as worse than I thought. They then replaced the unit (and re-charged the credit); now I had to remove and re-install it at my cost. Irritating, to say the least, but at least they delivered it and picked up the other one.

Your idea of a cash credit is good. I would suggest offering them a choice: Either the cash credit, or they replace the unit when they get a new one in - but that you get to use the current one until they get the replacement. An argument can be made that you have other people depending on you providing snowclearing, so waiting for them to replace it without the use of one would not be reasonable, either.

They should also deliver it, as you have already put in your time in that regard, too. If they balk, you might point out that you feel you should get your Tacome inspected for damage. That might inspire them to make it right.

I wouldn't expect my client to keep a computer I dropped on their floor, nor would I make them wait without one until a replacement came in.

Good luck, and hopefully this experience won't mar your enjoyment of you new toy too much.

Sorry to hear about the issues you have had. As for shortening the drive shaft, would adding a set of Pat's quick connects solve your problem? might make instalation of all your implements easier and adds 4 inches to the 3 pt arms.

I love my quick hitch.

Well, I waited til their was a conclusion to post this, but here's the rest of the story.

Dealer was really reluctant to do anything except a refund. I sent pictures he then agreed to try to get a replacement.

I'm happy to report the new unit was delivered today. We made the exchange at my home.

I sent the dealer a note and indicated I had my confidence restored.

Got the unit mounted okay. Now to review the positioning and leveling, before cutting the PTO shaft. Would like to cut once so I will measure 5 times before taking the sawall to it.

Thanks to all who offered advice and condolences.

I like to wish all a Happy, Healthy, and Safe New Year.

I have a Mahindra 1815 with a ml102 loader rated at 18 hp. my question is will it handle a Meteor 60 inch blower? Thanks. Bob

I run a Meteor 60" on a ck20 and previously ran it with a Chinese Benye (Rhino Clone) with 22 HP with no problems. You need the 60 in order to cover the wheel width, otherwise you pack the snow and the blower is less effective.
I think you will be okay, but I am no expert.

yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. If is starts to bog down, you just go a little slower. I have a 27 hp 19 hp pto on a 68 inch meteor. (they recommend a 35 hp tractor for the 68 inch blower) The only time the tractor groans is when I'm blowing already blown snow. Ultra heavy compacted snow, and all i do is just go slower through it
