Kioti CK20
I'm changing the hydraulic fluid in my CK20 and I can not get the filter that sits under the belly to budge (the long grey one). Kioti apparently hit the whole thing with paint after assembly...I don't know what kind of superman-paint they use, but this thing has already mangled my vise-type AND my ratchet filter wrenches. I've tried to break the paint seal with a razor blade, but the access it too limited.

Any tips. Thank you in advance

I would use a big pair of pliers, if you have room. Maybe punch a screwdriver through it.

I have alwase had good luck with a belt type filter wrench.. put it as close as possible to the base of the filter...
on the really tight filters, I have had to tighten the filter ever so slightly, then back it off.

Try what the other say to try first. Then is it doesn't come off, you maybe in for a dirty job. I have had them so badly stuck that I have driven a really long screwdriver through them to get them to turn. I had one once that I finely tore the case off and used a pipe wrench on the base.

Go to Sears and get one of their filter wrenches that have 3 fingers on it. They fit alot of different size filters. I removed the Oil filter on my Cummins with one of these and people always talk about how hard they are to take off. Has yet to fail me. It's the powder coating that makes them stick so bad.

I finally got my original CK20 filter off with a belt type. It took both my brother and me pulling on it to get it to turn.
I use the type mentioned by Kiohio now.

A big pair of channel-locks will remove it.

Becareful using the screwdriver. It works but don't puncture the filter too close to the base. The interior thread is almost halfway into the filter on mine. If you puncture it less than halfway from the base there is a possibilty of damaging the threads!

Hello Noo, i had to use a chain wrench on my first filter changing, that factory paint is tough stuff...

Okay...that was the worst oil change of my life. In my attempt to remove this filter, I purchased and mangled the following wrenches: ratchet-type, vice, belt, sears-3-prong-thing, and screwdriver through the base.

In the end, I had to use a cut the base off, gut the insides, remove the outer casing and finally get to the top of the filter, from the inside, with a pair of plyers to get it to budge.

Messy job was right!! What was the point of factory painting over the filter after assembly?

Well, I'm done venting.
