I was wondering if anyone has used a pulverizer with a ck20? To me, it is not very strong with ground engageing tools, but wondered if anyone could comment on how it would handle a pulverizer, and what size I could expect to work well with my ck20?

Thanks a bunch

Thanks for the reply.

What kind of soil do you have, most of my new construction work is in vile compacted clay. I have way wonder if the spikes will even dig into some of this stuff. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

in dry clay it will take a lot of passes. In moist clay no problem unles it is the pipe clay type. I have a loam type and it has no problems at all

I was speaking to my dealer's salesman, who probably has sold more Kioti tractors then anyone else in the country...and his opinion was to go with a four footer? I do not know if he has ever used a pulverizer behind a ck20, but his opinion is hard to dismiss. The soil I work with is not usually a loamy clay, but something akin to concrete. My somewhat worn tiller will only penetrate an inch or two at best. I realize I can tilt the pulverizer so I am digging with the tines rather then pulling substancial dirt. I am just afraid my tractor has enough guts in this miserable soil. I am also afraid that a four footer is so small that it will take a month to do a half acre lot.

Dark Viper, when you say it will take a lot of passes, how many are we talking about on average?

Thanks

the problem isnt that the tractor will pull it in tough clay soil. The issue is that the implement doesnt have enough weight to break thru. I have pulled in clay so hard that the backhoe does not want to break thru. I think the 4 foot will be to light. My 5 footer weighs in at about 800 pounds and like i said it doesnt have enough wieght for the harder soils. I think your dealer is being conservitive. To put this in prospective for you i pull a 72 road blade, a 72 " root rake a 5 foot drag scraper heaping full that is close to half a yard of dirt when heaped and the 5 foot pulverizer. All of which my dealer said the tractor would handle when I bought them. Not only did it pull all of it but exceeded both of our expectations. as long as what you get doesnt exceed the lift capacity of the 3pt hitch and it is 5 foot or less the tractor will handle it but you will have to be in 4WD. There have even been times that i had some much trash in front of the pulverizer that the back tires were picking up the material and the tractor was still going. You wont pull at 5 MPH when you have this much but it will pull it fine at about 2-3 MPH. LEt me know what you get and how it works out for you. If you have any more questions just post them and ill try and answer. TTL

I don't have a CK20, but I've had similar sized tractors and I too have the concrete clay soil. I'd think your Kioti would be able to handle a 5' pulverizer no problem. I agree that a 4' model may take even more passes due to it being lighter. I realize you only have 20 hp, but you have ample gear ratios to make it work fine. A pulverizer doesn't really take much at all to pull. I wouldn't try to hang a 7' rotary cutter or a 8' finish mower or a 6' rototiller on your tractor, but a 5' pulverizer likely would be fine; even with concrete soil.

Thanks a bunch fellas!

This is just great!

The interesting thing is the Leinbach 5 foot pulverizer weighs in at 507 lbs, and the 4 foot Woods is 547 lbs. I guess we know which brand is better...or at least heavier. I am afraid the 4 foot is to small to do much with. I am glad to know the five footer will work. Have you guys tilted the pulverizer to dig in differently..I mean shortening the top link? I am sure you have, now I am really afraid that I will not be able to get enough weight to dig into the clay. I have wittnessed the clay so hard that my hoe just deflects off. I am amazed that you guys handle such big implements. My five foot heavy duty boxscraper will just stop me with a full load. I wonder if my tractor needs tweeked. I noticed some smoke on the opposite side of the motor from the exhaust. Seems like I have some minor leak, looks like oil, and smells like oil on the block.

Decisions, decisions!

Thanks again fellas
Jay
