Recognizing one size doesn't fit all, I perhaps over thought the oil change out.

I cannot find a local source for the owners manual recommended oils. Tried contacting the regional rep. no response. One dealer within 2 hrs doesn't change fluid, only filters. The other is new to Kioti and doesn't seem up to speed yet. His recommendation is what they would use, NAPA 85-405.

A local auto parts person who came from the oil industry recommended Simplex Supreme Synthetic Blend. Price seems prohibitively high. Dealer claims once you use synthetic you should stick to it.

While I'm asking, what's the preference for a cold climate,Front axle change--
T/M or 90 gear oil.

Thoughts and cautions appreciated.

When I did the change on my CK35 HST I went to a Chevron bulk plant that also had a store front. Bought Chevron 1000 THF fluid. This transmission fluid container had the names of several well know companies on it, including several tractor companies. Hope this helps. :):)
As far as the front axel goes I used 90 weight gear oil.
By the way where abouts are you?

From what I have found, the recommended oils are a 10w-30 weight hydraulic oil. I've been able to get the Shell Donax TD at a local oil supplier that deals in anything that is made from oil. It's $70/5 gal. He has the Exxon hyd oil but just in 55 gal drums. I guess your location would make a difference in what you can find. You might try a Kubota or Bobcat dealer but the oil might be a little more. I've never seen the hyd blend oil. Amsoil makes a fully synthetic hyd oil, 5w-30 weight, that is about $150/5 gal. They say it's good for very cold temps and gives you extended drain intervals. There are cheaper oils to buy but I just stay with one of the recommended oils.

I use 80w-90 gear lube in my front axle, CK30hst, but the factory oil is the same as the hyd oil. One dealer posted they still use the hyd oil on their service work. When you drain and refill, drive it a few hundred yards and then recheck the oil level. Air pockets must form and get released with the gears moving. I had to add twice to mine.

Here is the lubricant chart I recieved from my Kioti Dealer. It list 8 potentiaL transmission oil suppliers. I have always used our local Co-op oils for my tractors and just had my oil guy set me up. I used 80W 90 for my front axle.

Thanks for the chart. It lists four more brands than my manual lists.

Mousefield-- I'm located in Western Maine in the shadows of the White Mountains.

Victor--Thanks for the tip about the front axle. Looks like I'm going with gear oil.

Hoosier Hay Man-- Thanks for the chart. It does give some more references than the Manual. Still no luck finding those locally. but I've got some more cross references to work from. Did notice some capacity difference from the manual on Capacities on the CK20S HST line. Both engine oil and tranmission differ.

Right now it looks like I go with the NAPA 85-405 since that what the new local dealer would have used anyway.

Thanks to all who took the time to reply.

Try Tractor Supply if in your area, their Premium Trans/Hydralic fluid meets or exceeds all specs for all major mfg.s including Cat,JD,C-IH-NH, Kubota etc. Trans changed at 50hrs and 600 hrs. (besure to check and drain ALL the drain plugs.)

For engine oil I use the Shell Rotella Diesel Full Synthetic, 5w-40, at TCS or Wally World and change every 100 hrs.

For the axle I use Lucas Synthetic gear, from the local auto parts store. Axle changed with trans.

No sludge varnish residue etc anywhere, filters changed with oil, Trans and hydralic Kioti or Bobcat(not that expensive and cheaper than a repair job), engine Fram or Purolator super premium filters.

Joe,

Thank you. Tractor Supply is a 1/2 hr each way and last time I was there their oil supply was very low. I don't recall seeing their Premium Oil. I suppsequently talked to another tractor reair shop that also uses the NAPA premuim. Since I have him repair a small leak on the curl cylinder fitting that has resisted careful tightening in the spring I think I going to use what he's using since I suspect he'll top it off.

I'm going to look for the Lucas synthetic for the front axle. The shop I just mentioned would you the same transmission fluid since he said that what many of the manufacturers are delivery with.

I did the Engine oil change at 43 hours with 10W 30 Rotella semi synthetic. It might be my imagination but the engine does seem to start with less of that hard to listen to rattle. Again, it may be my imagination, or I may not have paid any attention before, but the oil pressure light is lit for 2 or 3 seconds. Interesting how ones focus changes once you make a change.

Thanks again,

Bruce

BTF, don't know if this applies to the Kioti but when I changed the hydro fluid on my Kubota B3030 I stripped the threads in the transmission case. This is my 3rd Kubota but the 3030 has (I'm guessing) a cast aluminum or cheaper metal for the case. Or perhaps I just wrenched down way too much to strip the threads. I had to get a thread restorer called ++ TIME-SERT Threaded inserts for stripped threads, threaded inserts, thread repair stripped sparkplug's, Ford sparkplug blowouts, threaded inserts threaded, repair stripped threads, stripped threads, inserts threaded inserts, Ford spark plug repair, to fix MY mistake. Never had a problem with the B6200 and B1550. The point I'm making before I start rambling on is DON'T OVERTIGHEN!!! Good Luck!
